Skate Anytime Reviews
Excellent Synthetic Ice Surface!
My new synthetic ice from Skate Anytime is perfect. I decided to set it up in my garage, under my parked car. I have been driving right on top of the rink, and my front tires rest on the skate panels with no problem. The tiles can withstand the weight of my mid-size SUV. I have figure skates, but have to be careful not to gouge the panels with my bottom pick. I found some discontinued compulsory figures (patch) blades that don’t have the bottom pick that my figure skates have. I also bought a used pair of Bauer hockey skates (no pick), ssince they are the best for keeping the rink panels in top shape. I also used Con-Tact shelf paper as my non-slip surface, so my panels don’t slide around the garage flooring out from underneath me & so far, so good. (I used the Con-Tact Brand Grip Premium Non-Adhesive Contact Shelf and Drawer Liner, 20″ x 4′, 6 Rolls). I added some Target dollar bin lights around the perimeter, my holiday spot light & my iPad with some speakers (so much fun skating with music & mood lighting, & it keeps my eyes on the edges of the rink, so I don’t skate off of it at night). I’ve been skating for over 30 years, so I’ve tested out a few synthetic rinks over the years & I’ve done a great deal of research/product/price watching. This one is low maintenance, durable & affordable. I don’t do many reviews of the products we buy, since we buy a lot of items from Amazon & we are usually happy with what we receive. Hope this info helps. Candace.
Good synthetic ice and daily use…
I have approximate 280 square feet setup, ordered 5 x 20 pack package and it enough for what I need to setup. The synthetic ice plate is easy to install and as the company suggested, if you want to align your rink, you can adjust the border which I did and just need a table saw. Easy and fast. As for the synthetic ice itself, it perform pretty well, I skate on it and my kids doing it everyday now, initially felt a bit adjustment and different, but once you skate on it a few times, is all good and can slide stop like the real ice. You do however, need to clean up or vacuum a bit from time to time after skates. Is it a real ice, of course no, it is good for continue practice or skating or shooting, definitely yes. My son is not a goalie, so will not know how it will slide but just skating and practice shooting and stick handling is all good. I will suggest based on their measurement, arrange your area and then decide how many package you will need. All in all, great product and good company to deal with. Thank you skate anytime! Great addition to our basement!
Perfect Substitute for the Real Thing
This stuff is awesome. I really didn’t know what to expect.
The first few “glides” with skates were strange but it got easier after more use. It also seemed to get slicker and the puck started moving better.
It isn’t ice but it is a good substitute while I can’t go to the rink.
The only real negative is cost to size (although I do think it is worth it for the price). There is not a whole lot of room to maneuver (I bought the 20 panel kit), but enough to do some stick handling and shooting. But since they are so easy to assemble, you can configure the kit in an arrangement that will work best for you.
I ended up buying the 10×10 kit direct since I know I want the extra space to maneuver and to give the kids space to play together, can’t wait for it to get here!
Fun Synthetic Ice Surface for all Ages!
I’ve had my ice surface for over 3 months and it’s working great! I have it set up in my garage and I can drive my SUV right over top of it without any problem as the tiles are sturdy. The tiles were very easy to put together using a mallet. It’s so far great for my young kids who are 5 and 3 to gain confidence in their skating and balancing. I enjoy using it primarily for my stickhandling, passing and for shooting drills. As an adult skate, it’s not enough surface area to really get going on the ice however wearing my skate with dull blades and doing some strides and wearing them while i do the drills is fun. It does take a bit of getting used to at first but once you do it’s a lot of fun. It’s been worth the investment especially during covid when the rinks were closed and needing to continue my hockey craving. Michael C (Dir of Ops) for Skate anytime worked with me to just order just a few more tiles i needed and he also sent me the glide enhancement cleaner which works great to clean and keep the tiles smooth and fast. I will def recommend this product to my other hockey friends, especially those with kids.
Terrific Products
Absolutely love all the Skate Anytime products I’ve purchased. That includes the Premier 10×18′ ice surface, blue borders, 2 rubber rebounders, and the cleaner.
Easy to assemble with a rubber mallet, and about as close to ice for shooting/stickhandling that I’ve used. Great for the 3 year old getting precious time on his skates in the time it takes to put them on. No driving to the rink during public skate times just to skate for 20 minutes.
My favorite part is actually how the company says the friction is only 90% of ice, best using 5/8″ blade sharpening, etc to give a realistic opinion of the product.
I also love how we can use socks without immediately falling, great for having fun off skates.
I havent used all the other synthetic ice brands, but I can’t imagine how I’d want them to be better. Great product!
Well Made, Great Buy
This was a great Christmas present for my son. He uses both his roller and ice skates on it. It’s perfect for practicing stick handling and saves me from paying for ice time!
Perfect Practice Ice
Such a great buy. We’re a hockey family, and sometimes need to practice inside due to weather. Titles are easy to install, and seem to be holding up well.
Works Well
Works great in our garage for extra practice. can perform hockey stops and crossovers which helps development for our little guy. Thanks!
